Julian studied biochemistry and chemistry at the University of Tübingen where he graduated in 2017. He completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Dirk Schwarzer in 2022 working on chemical probes for deciphering the substrate specificities of histone deacetylases (HDACs). His current research focusses on the development of inhibitors and chemical probes targeting bacterial hydrolases. When he’s not in the lab you can often find him outside in nature, hiking or riding his mountain bike.
